All training of storage tank installers, removers, testers and maintenance is provided by the Canadian Petroleum Contractors Association (cpcaonline.com). Authority for the Alberta Fire Code requirement to use certified contractors rests with the Safety Codes Council. If you are interested in being a remover of underground storage tanks, no new licenses are being issued by the Council for that certification. You must receive your certification through the CPCA and their PM2 training program. If you hold an Alberta license to remove underground storage tanks issued by the PTMAA, that license will be honored until December 31, 2025 when you will have to acquire your CPCA PM2 training.
